Day 8. Mon 22.7.19
We decided to see if we could have another couple of nights at this campsite. We quite like it here. Not posh, but totally adequate, and reasonably priced.
We were successful and were able to move to a pitch that had some shade.
Handy, as the temperature was expected to be 39 deg C today.
Went for a circular drive round Col de Tourmalet, an iconic peak where the Tour de France had just been, two days ago. The scenery was equally spectacular, and beautiful. Different from the Alps, but still grand and majestic. We had a cup of tea and some biscuits before descending down the other side.

It was amazing to see the numbers of people still cycling in the wake of the Tour de France. Presumabley, and hopefully, they weren't just the slowest of the Tour de France riders trying to catch up with the rest of the pack?!?!
At the top, there was a cafe.
If you have even been skiing, you will be able to picture the scene. A cafe at a strategic point, and skis all parked in racks with skiers in their sallopettes drifting around, or sitting with a drink. It was like that, only with bikes, and skin tight vests and pants!
On the way back we stopped off at E Leclerc supermarket, just in time for a cooked lunch in their cafe. Superb value and very tasty. The aircon helped cool us down, so we stayed in there having a cup of tea and blogging, making the cup of tea last for well over an hour!
Then we headed back to our site, Camping la Foret, Lourdes and dropped into the swimming pool to cool off.
Excessive temperatures today.
Getting to sleep was a problem due to the heat.
