Day 15 Mon 29.7.19
At the top of Superbagneres |
Our super-hosts Brian & Marianne recommended a drive to Luchon and then up to Superbagneres, then Into Spain, and back to their B&B.
This we did.
Luchon was pleasant town, with a cable-car that can take you up to the top of the mountains. Skiers in winter, cyclists and walkers in summer. Boo was busy on the phone, so we didn’t stop there.
It would have been a great place for busking, I thought, but drove to Superbagneres instead.
Hotel at the top |
At the top of Superbagneres one gets a commanding 360 degree view of the Pyrenees. It was splendid. We could see the tallest peak in the Pyrenees from Superbagneres.
Cracking view! |
It was just over the border in Spain.
We met a couple from Skipton while we were eating our lunch. They too, had a Mercedes Sprinter van, and so we exchanged opinions with them about van conversations and the like!
There was also a rather large, longer campervan next to ours. In the back of it they carried a Smart Car!! Not quite in our league of camping.
After lunch and saying a farewell to our new very best friends, Geoff & Margaret from Skipton, we set off on the return journey back to our B&B.
Hot lunch at the top of Superbagneres |
This took us into Spain, through a lovely Spanish village, and then back into France.
To prove we were in Spain! |
A great little circular drive.
Actually we drove 100 miles today, and loved every minute of it. We got back to the B&B by 4 pm, and dipped into the pool. The Dutch family were beside the pool, but they soon moved off when we arrived!!
Had our 3rd and last meal in La Casera.
Then the evening was over.
